Greetings from the Rocking Chair

Having recently retired after spending 28 years with one organization, I found myself experiencing new thoughts and looking at new ways to expand my horizions.  I didn’t think I would ever be involved in doing any kind of blog but I knew that I wanted to be part of the internet world.

What thoughts go through your mind when you reflect upon the rocking chair?  Maybe the thoughts are generational in that the rocking chair means different things to different generations.

I can visualize an older man or woman sitting in the rocking chair after a hard day of work just letting the burdens of the day escape with each familiar squeak of the rocker.  It is now time to reflect upon the good things of life like the grandchildren enjoying helping Grandma shell peas or listening to Grandpa’s stories even though they may have heard them many times before.

The rocking chair may have been the place where the young mother or father rocked their new born baby in the middle of the night.  A time when there was no one else that was important than the two of them rocking in silence or maybe mom was humming a little tune.

Anyway, we would like to ezpand upon this concept that the Rocking Chair was where solutions to pressing problems were sought, reflections on lessons learned were encouraged, and wisdom and instruction were offered when asked.

Pull up a chair, choose a book from our Floodgates of Heaven bookstore and enjoy.
